Frank Fleischer (President)

Mayor Frank A. Fleischer has been a dedicated resident, public servant, and community leader in Mokena, Illinois, for nearly five decades. Frank and his wife, Laurie, built their home in Mokena in 1977, where they raised their two children, Tricia and Brett, who are proud graduates of Mokena School District 159 and Lincoln Way High School, classes of 1997 and 2000.

Frank's commitment to the community extends far beyond his role as mayor. For six years, he coached boys' baseball and girls' soccer, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. His family’s deep involvement in youth soccer included years of travel with their children’s soccer club and supporting their varsity soccer careers. A devoted member of St. Mary’s Church for 47 years and the Knights of Columbus Council #6993 for over three decades, Frank’s faith and values have always guided his service.

A veteran of the Illinois Air National Guard, Frank retired as a technical sergeant (E6) after ten years of service. He also enjoyed a 39-year career with AT&T, retiring in 2009 as a communications technician and lead man for Illinois before returning as a consultant for two years. His advocacy for workers was evident in his role as a union steward with IBEW Local #21.

Frank’s extensive public service record includes serving on Mokena’s Village Planning and Zoning Commissions (1985-1987) and as a Village Trustee for 16 years (1987-2003). He was the first and only Mokena official to earn the prestigious Certificate of Achievement in Leadership Enhancement and Development from the University of Illinois. His leadership has shaped critical initiatives, including chairing commissions on zoning, boundaries, and comprehensive planning, and founding the Concept Review Committee.

Since 2013, Frank has served as Mokena Village President, bringing vision and collaboration to the role. He actively participates in regional development efforts, working with neighboring mayors to shape the future of the I-80 corridor. He also represents Mokena at the Illinois Municipal League, South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, Will County Governmental League, and the Will County Economic Development Commission.

Beyond his municipal duties, Frank has a long history of serving the broader community, including 10 years as chairman of the Will County Center for Community Concerns Board, where he has been a member since 1989. He has also been a board member of the South Division Credit Union and the Great Lakes Bank Advisory Board.

Frank’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication to Mokena, its families, and its future. Through decades of leadership, he continues to prioritize collaboration, growth, and community pride.
