James Roberts (Trustee)

James D. Roberts is a dedicated professional and family man with a lifelong commitment to hard work, leadership, and service.

His commitment to the community was recently recognized when he was appointed as a Village Trustee in 2024.

A proud veteran, James served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974, where he cultivated the discipline and integrity that have defined his career and personal life.

Following his military service, James embarked on a remarkable 34-year career with Dominick's, holding a wide range of leadership roles. Rising through the ranks from Grocery Clerk to Store Manager, James excelled in positions such as Dairy Manager, Frozen Manager, Frontend Manager, Head Clerk, Night Assistant Manager, and Co-Store Manager. His tenure at Dominick's showcased his expertise in hiring, training, food safety, merchandising, budgeting, and managing daily operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

In 2008, James transitioned into entrepreneurship by launching his own home improvement business, combining his hands-on skills with his passion for helping others. He continued to demonstrate his leadership abilities when he joined Mariano’s in 2013, where he played a pivotal role in opening new stores and serving as Assistant Store Manager and Co-Store Manager until his retirement in 2019.

A resident of Mokena since 1990, James and his wife, Peggy, built a life rooted in community and family. Together, they raised three daughters—Carrie, Katie, and Megan—who have blessed them with nine grandchildren. James has been an active member of his community for over three decades, known for his dedication to his family and his work.

Throughout his career, James has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, adaptability, and fostering meaningful connections, making him a respected figure both professionally and personally.
